Coffee and your health
Coffee, one of the world's most popular beverages, used to get a bad rep. Many people thought drinking it was a vice. But new research has shown that coffee may actually have health benefits.
Here are some of the potential benefits:
- Reduces the risk of Type 2 diabetes. People who upped their daily coffee intake lowered their risk of Type 2 diabetes by 11% in 4 years.
- Improves cognitive function. Coffee prevents the formation of protein buildup in the brain, a trademark of Alzheimer’s disease.
- Prevents heart disease. Drinking coffee may prevent heart disease from developing because it lessens the calcium buildup in the coronary arteries.
