Lady Gaga, mental illness, and you
Recently, pop superstar Lady Gaga opened up about her struggles with mental illness. Gaga, who struggles with PTSD, offered a few tips on how to manage when things seem difficult:
- Meditation. According to a recent study, meditation can alter your brain's grey matter, improving memory, empathy, and sense of self.
- Support from loved ones. If you find yourself struggling, being with people who understand you--whether that's family, friends, or even a therapist--can be monumentally helpful.
- Medication. Meds have gotten a bad rep over the years, but they can actually be incredibly helpful! Talk to a psychiatrist if you think medication may be beneficial to you.
There is no evidence that meditation is helpful.
