March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month
March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month

Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in the United States and the second leading cause of death by cancer that affects both men and women.

The good news? If everyone aged 50 (45 for African Americans) and older got regular screenings, 6 of 10 deaths from colorectal cancer could be prevented.

Here are a few things you can do in March to protect yourself and your loved ones:

  • Get active: Physical activity may help reduce the risk of colorectal cancer.
  • Talk to friends and family about the importance of getting screened for colorectal cancer starting at age 50.
  • Schedule a colon cancer screening for yourself and encourage others to do the same.
