April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month

According to AAA, drowsy driving accounts for 10% of all car crashes.

Here are some tips to help you stay safe on the road:

  1. Avoid distracted cell phone use, including hands-free. If you drive for work, talk with your employer about safe habits. Keep your phone stored away if possible.

  2. Avoid impaired driving, whether by alcohol, lack of sleep, or drugs, including over-the-counter and prescription medication.
  3. Use your car's safety features, but do not overly rely on them.
  4. Practice with your teen drivers and teach them to avoid distraction.
  5. Make sure all occupants are properly secured in age-appropriate restraints.
