National Safety Month: Building a Safety Culture

June is National Safety Month. During this month, the National Safety Council is highlighting relevant issues with the aim of reducing the leading causes of injury and death at work, home, and on the road.

This week, we're focusing on building a safety culture, which includes the mindsets and procedures to maintain a safe workplace for all.

  1. Understand the risks: Analyze prior accidents and successfully-avoided accidents
  2. Create and implement the plan: Standard operating procedures are put in place to reduce or  eliminate risks
  3. Commit to safety: Safety must be the first priority of all employees in the workplace
  4. Monitor the plan: Know the metrics and reporting procedures
